An interview with Jeff Schaefer Photography LLC...
How long have you been photographing weddings?
I have photographed over 600 weddings in the
Cincinnati, Dayton area since 2002. I briefly studied photography at
the University of Cincinnati but went
into computer programming after college. My heart was in
photography not programming, so in 2002 I began
photographing weddings around Cincinnati.

"I am so thankful for the memories Jeff was able to
capture! I couldn't have asked for more!"
~ Jenna and Brad, 12/29/2012
We love your services and portfolio. Everything sounds fantastic... What sets you apart from all the other Cincinnati wedding photographers?
1. You won't have to wait! You'll have your retouched photographs and album design
10 business days after your wedding!
2. My award winning photographs are natural and romantic art pieces. You'll feel proud to display them in your home.
3. You'll reminisce about all the fun and emotional candid, behind-the-scenes photographs I'll capture.
4. Your wedding day portraits and your entire wedding day will be smooth and organized.
5. Great photographs are my SECOND priority! My first priority is to make sure you have a fun, smooth, and perfect wedding. Iíll help you have a great wedding
bringing your vision together, so I'm able to capture great
memories for you.
6. Every client gets a beautiful, modern wedding album.
7. You can have a fun, lively photo booth (with prints) for
your guests to enjoy at a very reasonable rate.
8. You will absolutely LOVE your photographs. Not just
"satisfied", but LOVE them! Read my reviews!
9. I will photograph your wedding personally, not a less capable replacement. And, there will be a 2nd photographer with me
to capture more candid emotional moments between you and
your loved ones.
10. You'll have confidence when you hire Jeff Schaefer Photography.
I have been awarded The Knot's "Best of Weddings Cincinnati" for the past
7 years, and Wedding Wire's "Bride's Choice" for the past 6
years, and I am one of the few photographers in The Knot
Hall of Fame.

"Jeff was an absolute blast to work with - Truly a
professional that is guaranteed
to exceed your expectations..."
~ Jacquelyn and Ryan, 6/29/2013
Will the portraits take forever?
No. I understand that it's your wedding day, not my photo shoot. The most important thing on your
wedding day is NOT the photography! Your vows and a once-in-a-lifetime, fun experience with your
friends and family are more important.
Your day is about you two. With my detailed planning, organization, and flexibility, your
photography will go smoothly and quickly. You'll get breathtaking, emotional photographs without
me interfering or dominating your day.

"... mix of breathtaking portraits, candid, and creative
shots that captured the special moments of the day"
~ Jennifer and Wesley, 8/2/2013
This sounds wonderful but it also sounds expensive. Are we going to be able to afford this?
Competent wedding photography is not cheap. I understand that
My photography rates are extremely competitive and very reasonable
for the level of photography and service I provide. I have
several packages and a-la-cart options that hopefully fit your budget.
You really do get what you pay for when it comes to wedding
photography, and the only thing worse than paying too much, is
paying too little and being disappointed.

What is your style?
I photograph in a relaxed manner that sets the stage naturally. I offer a little guidance,
encourage you to focus on each other, and I artistically capture your passion and emotion
for each other. There are some look-at-the-camera-and-smile photographs, but
itís not overdone. My method is a fun and comfortable way to be photographed, and your
photographs will be spontaneous, emotional, and timeless.
You'll also receive photographs of MANY candid moments of you and your spouse, friends and
family. You will be amazed by the behind-the-scenes photographs when you didnít
realize I was there. Your photographs will show the emotional connections between loved ones...
the laughter, smiles, little glances, hugs, tears, and joy. It is these details that tell
your story, not only of your wedding day, but of all the meaningful relationships in your life.
My style creatively tells the story of your wedding day with exciting and emotional photography.

'natural', and not staged."

~ David and Jennifer, 6/1/2013
Will you photograph the wedding yourself?
Yes, I am your photographer. Unlike other studios, you won't get surprised with a
less-capable substitute on your wedding day.
From the initial consultation, to the wedding day planning,
then the post-wedding album design, and every aspect of your
wedding photography, you'll work with me. You won't get
passed from stranger to stranger at each stage of the
process, planning your wedding day photography with someone
who wont even be there.
"The wedding album took our breath away. We are so
excited to share it with
Aston Oaks Golf Club
friends and family for years to come..."
~ Kim and Dan, 7/13/2013
Will there be a second photographer at my wedding?
Yes. The second photographer provides more
photojournalistic coverage and captures
different views of key moments. For instance
during the toast I'll be focused on your table,
and my assistant might photograph your parents
raising their glasses. Or, during your ceremony
processional, you'll get photographs of your
nervous anticipation with your dad, while I'm photographing
your bridesmaids walking down the aisle.
"Jeff does an amazing job discussing what you are looking
for - then produces that,

no matter the circumstances. I could not be happier!"
~ Jacquelyn and Ryan, 6/29/2013
Is an engagement session included?
An engagement session can be added at a very reasonable rate.
Engagement session benefits:
1. The session is a great opportunity for us to
get comfortable with each other. After spending
an evening with you, we will feel more like I'm
a friend instead of stranger on your wedding day.
2. You'll be more relaxed about being in front
of the camera on your wedding day. That can result in
better wedding photographs.
3. You'll LOVE your engagement photographs.
4. You can create save-the-date cards and Christmas cards.
5. We can create a custom engagement signature book.
With that being said, if you don't need engagement photos,
that is no problem. I'm not going to push it on you in the
least. I have photographed enough regular, every-day type
people to be very comfortable working with a bride and groom
who I met for the very first time on their wedding day.

~ Susan and Brian, 4/6/2013
How long do you stay at the wedding?
It varies by package, but 11 hours is the average length of
time I'm with the bride and groom photographing a wedding.
(Not counting driving time.) I usually photograph an
hour or two of 'getting ready', a couple hours for creative
portraits, ceremony, cocktails, time in-between events, and
most people have me at the reception for 4 hours from the
time they are introduced.

Katie and Roy, 8/13/2011
Do you photograph weddings outside of Cincinnati?
While most of the weddings I photograph are in
Cincinnati / Dayton area, I am available for travel.
There is no travel charge or minimum
booking for weddings within a 1-hour drive of Cincinnati.
This includes all of Dayton, Northern Kentucky, and Madison, Indiana.
Areas that are a 2-hour drive from Cincinnati,
such as Columbus, Indianapolis, Louisville, and
Lexington, require a minimum booking and a reasonable fee to cover gas and the
additional time for my second photographers.
Areas that are over a 2-hour drive require a minimum booking,
and a reasonable per diem fee to cover travel and lodging.
Do you photograph same-sex weddings?
Yes. Jeff Schaefer Photography is happy to photograph Cincinnati's same-sex, gay, lesbian, LGBT
weddings and engagements. We support marriage equality and acceptance of all people.
Love is something to be celebrated; it enriches and enhances our lives.
